Chocolate Wafflesback

Serve with strawberries and whipped fresh cream or a dash of chocolate sauce.


  • 6 tbsp butter

  • 100 g dark chocolate callets

  • 1 cup flour

  • 1½ tsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp espresso powder

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 3/4 cup sugar

  • 3 eggs

  • 1/3 cup milk


  • Step 1

    To make the waffle batter, melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler. Whisk until smooth and shiny. Remove and let cool.

  • Step 2

    Whisk together the flour, baking powder, espresso powder and salt in a large bowl.

  • Step 3

    Whisk together sugar, eggs and milk in a separate bowl until smooth, and then whisk in the cooled chocolate mixture until well combined.

  • Step 4

    Using a waffle iron, pour the batter into the centre and spread towards the edges.
